SCOTT BIESECKER

BASEBALL INSTRUCTOR

Scott has 18 years of college baseball experience as a coach and player. For the last 14 years, he has coached at Division I and II levels at the University of New Orleans, Mount St. Mary’s University, and Shippensburg University. He also coached two years at Waynesboro Area High School. During his coaching career, Scott’s roles included Associate Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, Director of Camps and Clinics, and instruction in all areas of the game. He has facilitated the development of 19 players that continued their playing careers at the professional level, five All-Americans, and numerous All-Region and All-Conference players. After playing at Waynesboro Area High School, Scott continued his playing career at Penn State University where he was a four-year letter winner and served as captain his senior season. Scott is available for private and group baseball lessons as well as camps and clinics.

CASEY BROOKENS

BASEBALL INSTRUCTOR

Casey played baseball at Chambersburg High School and went on to play 4 years at James Madison University. He was drafted 3 times and signed with the Chicago Cubs as a 30th round pick in 1996. He played 3 seasons in the Cubs organization. Casey coached 8 years at Greencastle High School after finishing his playing career including a 3 year run as Varsity Coach compiling a 42-23 record and winning 3 Mid-Penn Capital Division Title. Casey is part of a very accomplished baseball family in the area as his father, Ike, and Cousin, Tom, played in the Major Leagues. Casey is available for private and group baseball lessons and will be involved in camps and clinics throughout the year.

BOB KLINE

BASEBALL | SOFTBALL INSTRUCTOR

Bob played professional baseball in the Baltimore Orioles organization for 3 years after playing at Hagerstown C.C. Before signing with the Orioles, he was drafted in the 10th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1982. From 1985-1989, he was a member of the Shady Bower/Shirk’s Men’s Fastpitch Team who were the MD Class A State Champions in 1988. Bob has been involved with both baseball and softball for many years in the South Central PA area. He is the President and founder of the Mason Dixon Blaze Fastpitch Softball Organization 10U-16U and Director of their Summer Clinics. He is also a Co-Director of the Best of Softball Clinic (2004-2010). Bob was the Head Coach for the Greencastle-Antrim JV Softball team from 2007-2008. Bob will be available for private and group lessons in both baseball and softball.

Brian Canida

Brian Canida is from Amarillo, Texas. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas where he finished his college baseball career and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Fitness Management Composite with a Specialization in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Brian is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning coach. He is also certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer as well as a Youth Exercise specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist. Brian is available for hitting & fielding instruction along with personal training.

Autumn Appleby

Autumn joins the staff at The Athlete’s Edge with 10 years of Softball Pitching Instruction. Autumn attended and played softball at Davis & Elkins College, a Division II University that was part of the Great Mid-West Athletic Conference. Prior to attending Davis & Elkins College, Autumn was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim High School Varsity Softball team from 2008-2011. While there she helped pitch their way to the PIAA State playoffs three out of four years. In 2009, Autumn pitched and won the PIAA District III and PIAA State Tournament Championship games. During her high school days, Autumn pitched for the Heartbreakers Gold travel softball team that competed up and down the east coast against some of the nations top ranked travel teams.

Ossie Abreu

Ossie comes to The Athlete’s Edge with 9 years of professional baseball experience. Signed by the Washington Nationals in 2012, Ossie played in the Nationals Minor League system for 8 years as a middle infielder. During his tenure in the Nationals organization, Ossie also participated in the Arizona Fall League. In 2021, Ossie signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks and played for their Double A affiliate, the Amarillo Sod Poodles.

Jesse Beeler

Jesse played high school baseball at Greencastle-Antrim High School where he helped the Blue Devils to a District III Championship. After high school he attended Juniata College where he pitched for the baseball team. During his time there he appeared in 45 games and is sixth in Juniata history in saves. He received a Bachelor’s of Science in Analytics and enjoys studying the discipline as it relates to baseball. He has coached for five seasons with The Athlete’s Edge. Other coaching experience includes assistant JV baseball coach at Greencastle-Antrim High School and volunteer softball coach for the Chambersburg Trojans.

Allie Beeler

Allie was a four-year softball student-athlete for Juniata College, serving as their team captain. During her time with the Eagles, Beeler was selected as a four-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athlete and a three-time member of the Landmark Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. She started in over 150 games, and accumulated 111 career hits. A graduate of State College Area High School, Beeler led the Little Lions to two District IV titles. Beeler also spent time learning from Penn State’s former head coach, Amanda Lehotak, working as a camp counselor for the Nittany Lions summer camps.

Following her time at Juniata, Beeler spent time at Catholic University as their Athletic Communications Assistant. In this role, she coordinated communication efforts for field hockey, men’s and women’s cross country, softball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis. Beeler currently works as an elementary physical education teacher in the Chambersburg Area School District and serves as the head JV softball coach for the Trojans.

Courtney Andruczk

A Greencastle native, Courtney is a Division I athlete from UC Santa Barbara, out of the Big West. During the summer months Courtney will compete in the United Women’s Soccer Pro-Am League 1 with the Keystone FC. Prior to attending University of California Santa Barbara, Courtney was a MaxPreps GAHS Player of the Year, Mid-Penn Colonial Conference First Team, and many youth honors within USYS (National League Top Scorers List & USYS National Championship Semi-finalist) Courtney is available for individual and group instruction this summer.

Luca Tesselli

Luca started playing baseball when he was 10 in Italy. Throughout his career in Italy he played in the Junior League World Series in Taylor MI, the Senior League World Series in Bangor ME, represented Italy in different European and International tournaments, played in the Italian Baseball League and participated in different MLB scout events. At 16 years old he decided to come to the U.S. through an exchange student program. he played for John Champe High School in Aldie VA, and Saint Maria Goretti in Hagerstown MD. After high school he attended Mount Olive University in NC to play baseball, then transferred after his sophomore year to Wilson College in Chambersburg. Luca is an assistant coach at Saint Maria Goretti working specifically with catchers and hitters.

Merle Guyer

Merle Guyer has 14 years of coaching and instruction in baseball. Merle played high school baseball in Chambersburg where he was a part of the 1999 State championship team. Merle played college baseball at Widener University. Merle was recently the hitting/infield coach at Wilson College for 3 seasons. Merle also was a head coach at Penn State Mont Alto for 3 seasons and was coach of the year in 2012. He also coached at Chambersburg and Big Spring high school in his years of coaching. Merle is available for hitting and fielding instruction.

Tyler Ackerman

A Greencastle native, Tyler earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Penn State. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a Certified Speed and Agility Coach (CSAC) and a Level 2 Olympic Weight Lifting Coach (USAW-L2).

With over a decade of experience in the realm of athletic performance enhancement, Tyler has established himself as a renowned figure in the field of strength and conditioning. His journey began with a passion for sports and fitness, which evolved into a career dedicated to optimizing the physical capabilities of athletes across various levels of competition. Through personalized attention, scientific rigor, and unwavering dedication, Tyler strives to elevate every athlete under his guidance to new heights of achievement.

Mallory Wishard

Mallory joins the staff at The Athlete’s Edge with over 10 years of Softball Instruction. Mallory was a dual sport athlete at Waynesboro High School and graduated from Hagerstown Community College. While at HCC, she played both women’s basketball and softball.

Mallory transferred to Davis and Elkins College, a Division II University that was part of the Great Mid-West Athletic Conference. While at D&E, Mallory was a two-year starter for the softball team and served as an assistant softball coach in spring of 2014. Mallory then went on to further her coaching career as a graduate assistant with the Frostburg State softball team from 2014-2016.

Mallory has been giving youth softball lessons over the last 10 years and uses her educational background and collegiate coaching experience to create individualized training programs for young athletes that are looking to improve their skills. Her areas of interest are: hitting, infield and outfield.
